Nutrition Programmes
Nutrition is the cornerstone to good health and our practitioners at The Art of Health recommend a whole-food diet, with an emphasis on plant-based options.
Most of the degenerative diseases that we experience are generally due to excess; to an excessive Western lifestyle & diet. When we pare back what we consume, & consider the quality of the food we choose, the body has a natural default mechanism for healing.
WHY PLANT BASED?
It is important to remember that what we need is nourishment, not food.
A lot of the food we eat is not easy to absorb and assimilate. Basically, plant-based (or vegan) food is easier on the body and digestion & nutrients are absorbed quicker. Whole foods are also packed with bio-available nutrients that the body can eliminate if it does not need it. Apricots, for example, not only have iron, but also vitamin C, which is essential for assimilation.
We also advocate ‘living foods’, which is basically raw foods which contain a lot of healthy enzymes.
The reason for this is that raw - live & high enzyme content foods are less strenuous on the body, which is critical to allowing the body to spend more time on healing. When the body / digestion is under less pressure, extra energy is made available for the liver to clean up excess hormones, cleanse the blood & deal with emotions. Basically, the pancreas is also vital to this process as it releases enzymes that digest cooked food.
BUT, IMPORTANTLY, it also releases essential enzymes for healing.
If the body is constantly eating cooked food we are always in digestive mode, not healing mode. We need to think of an enzyme as the master key to healthy nutrition.
NUTRITION IS UNLOCKED OR LOCKED BY THIS ENZYME EQUATION.
When we eat whole, live foods, we:
Get the essential nutrients that we need, without clogging up internal organs.
And, we are consuming the LOCK that releases nutrients.
One of the many benefits is that you often experience renewed energy straight away.
